Colton dixon and skylar laine dating
Jennifer calls it "really beautiful" and appreciates that she "started digging deeper" in the middle of the track. He appreciates the "beautiful melody" she had in the song and jokes that she also had the nerve to wear Jennifer's shoes. Jessica Sanchez, who hails from San Diego, is making it even harder for me to hate her for her child prodigy status by singing Jazmine Sullivan's 'Stuttering'. The song is terrible for Elise's voice, by the way - I quite like her but she can't hit any of the right notes and it sounds awkward as hell - not to mention she is skipping over all of the words and blending them all together. Jennifer thinks Colton should definitely feel good about it, as he always surprises her with his approach to the notes and does it in his own way.
Jennifer also thinks that she has more of an opportunity than anyone else to "take American on a ride". However, she wants to see a more "impactful" performance, like Joshua Ledet gives. Jimmy and Akon are amazed at the control and feeling she has in her voice, especially at such a young age. Phil fares slightly better, but in general, just... She loves that he's able to make every song his own (I agree) and says that it's a mark of a true artist.
Steven says that when she sings, it's a "complete package" and praises the way she sings as "just great". I could never fail to remember those luscious curls, that ear-ringing falsetto...
Helping to mentor the contestants this week has been Akon! and apparently neither can the other contestants as we're treated to yet another melodramatic montage of his fellow contestants crying their eyes out following his departure.
Man, 'Locked Up' was a great song, even if a bit of a mess. Where's the booze party they all no doubt had once they got back to the mansion?
We're also going back to the contestants' hometowns this week.
"You sang beautifully tonight, you should be proud of yourself," she adds, before saying that "we'll see how it pans out". Steven was not a fan either, it seems, saying it was far from perfect for him and lacked a certain something. Time for the next duet, and Colton and Skylar are doing another country duet - Kelly Clarkson and Jason Aldean's 'Don't You Wanna Stay? We'll probably see her in the bottom again tomorrow. I like the song choice for her, so I have high hopes. The video montage before the performance highlights the fact that Hollie and Josh are apparently BFFs, which Jessica thinks is "weird". I don't know that song because Maroon 5 is lame, but the little snippets I hear of it during Phil's rehearsal sounds good.Randy actually loves it, proclaiming, "Elise is back! Jimmy once again urges him to push himself to be more popular than Colton. The vocal sounds great and I think this is one of her better vocal performances. It's a nice song choice for him, as it's not particularly expected but it still suits him and is good for his voice.I could see him actually recording an album, which I suppose speaks quite a lot for him.
